How to Get a Free Credit Reports

Knowing what is on your credit report is often the difference between paying low interest rates and high interest rates on your purchases. While there are some services that will allow you to access your credit report for a monthly fee one online service gives you yearly access to your report free of charge.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • Printer
  1. Step 1

    Visit the website for Annual Credit Report (Link can be found in the additional resources section below).

  2. Step 2

    Select state from the drop down menu.

  3. Step 3

    Enter information requested including your address, social security number, and personal information in the appropriate boxes and proceed to the next page.

  4. Step 4

    Select the box located in front of the credit reporting agencies name to get your free credit report from all three agencies. If you would like to only access one you can choose to check the box in front of only number 1. Select Next to proceed.

  5. Step 5

    Complete the step by step instructions on each individual company's pages. Annual credit report will direct you to the correct pages.

Tips & Warnings
  • Print and keep a copy of your new credit report for your records. Use it to help you clear up any debt.
  • The information from this site can only be accessed once per year.
