With an herb container garden near your kitchen, you’ll have convenient access to herbs while you cook. Herbs are very hardy and easy to grow and maintain. Just pinch the amount you need for your dish and promote new plant growth at the same time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cedar Container Garden Kit
  • Topsoil
  • Organic Compost
  • Perlite
  • Shovel
  • Hoe
  • Spade
  • Various Herbs
  • Garden Hose
  1. Step 1

Construct a container garden using cedar wood. Cedar repels insects and ages well.

  2. Step 2

Line the container with plastic to protect the wood and fill it with a soil mix of 3 parts topsoil, one part organic compost and one part perlite.

  3. Step 3

Select cooking herbs for your garden. Good choices are basil, parsley, dill, cilantro and tarragon. You can purchase established seedlings at a nursery.

  4. Step 4

Dig a small hole and transplant herb seedlings at least 12 inches apart. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly.
