How to Make a Protection Amulet
A protection amulet can be worn for a variety of reasons, but traditionally it is intended to dispel negative energies and block ill-intentioned beings. Most wearers keep the pendant around their neck on a cord, but it is also acceptable to keep it in a pocket on a bracelet or (in some traditions) wear it as an anklet.

- woodruff
- black cohosh
- dragon's blood incense
- Essential oil (recommend Sandalwood, Orris-root or Cedar)
- 1x1 inch piece of paper or parchment

-
-
3
Pass the wood chip and herbs through the incense smoke. Prayers and chants are typically included here.
-
4
Create a charm by writing protective runes or names of deities on the slip of paper.
-
5
Place the herbs, wood chip and paper into the amulet casing. Anoint the amulet with your essential oil. Finish the circle with your normal ritual.

Tips & Warnings
While the amulet can be worn for whatever length of time deemed necessary, it is recommended that you not remove it for at least the first three days.
Some herb and craft shops sell bottles specifically designed with jump rings or loops that allow them to be threaded onto a cord. These are also available from most essential oils dealers.
