Most of us have been there. You have a computer software program you are working on, and it freezes up. Yet it still remains on your screen or blocking part of your screen. How do you fix this problem without having to restart your computer and risk losing some of your work, not to mention time? Here are some pointers on how to close a PC program that has frozen.
Depress the Control, Alt and Delete keys all at the same time. This will bring up the Windows Task Manager dialog box on your screen.

Click on the Applications tab inside Windows Task Manager. This displays the list of software programs you are currently running.
End Task button for software not responding (circled)
Click the End Task button for the highlighted program that is not responding. You may receive a confirmation. Proceed to the next step if you want an alternative.
