Cleaning the toilet bowl is something nobody enjoys and, when you do get around to it, you usually have to use a harsh cleaning compound. Many of these compounds are health hazards; both their fumes and direct contact with your skin can be a serious irritant. There is an easy way to clean your toilet with something you probably already have in the house. The following article will tell you how.

Things You'll Need:

    Cleaning the toilet bowl safely

  1. Step 1

Pour 1/2 box of baking soda into the toilet bowl.

  2. Step 2

Let the baking soda stand overnight in the bowl. Try to do this the last thing before bed so you don't accidentally flush the toilet before the baking soda has a chance to work.

  3. Step 3

Flush the toilet several times in the morning. The baking soda should eat away the crud.

  4. Step 4

Run a brush around the bowl to fully remove any loosened grime.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the baking soda at night, right before bed
