Has your Xbox 360 broken down? Join the club, as many as 30% of the people who have purchased the Xbox 360 had their console break down on them. Mircosoft has been made aware of this problem, and as a result, extended the warranty of the Xbox 360 to three years after your original purchase date. The two most common problems with the Xbox 360 console are the Graphics Processing Unit and the DVD-ROM drive. If either one of these go out, there is no way for you to fix it yourself. Fortunately, Microsoft has provided the extended warranty just in case of an occurrence like this.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A can of air.
  • The serial number on the front of the Xbox 360.
  • The customer support number for Microsoft.
  1. Step 1

Unplug your Xbox 360 from the wall and the television set.

  2. Step 2

Blow as much dust as you can out of your Xbox using the can of air. Sometimes an Xbox will overheat due to the amount of dust in the box.

  3. Step 3

Move the Xbox to a location where it will have better ventilation.

  4. Step 4

Stand the Xbox 360 vertically. Sitting an Xbox on it’s side has been reported to cause the DVD drive to fail.

  5. Step 5

Call Microsoft customer support if neither of these works for you. They will replace your faulty Xbox 360 free of charge, provided you are under warranty.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your original purchase receipt and serial number on hand when you call the Microsoft customer support line.
  • Never modify your Xbox 360, or use any third party peripherals that might void the warranty.
