A chemical peel can do wonders on the skin. It can help reduce fine lines, acne and give your skin an overall healthy glow. At one time, you could only get a chemical peel at a dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s office. However, now you can buy a kit and do a chemical peel in the comfort of your own home. These simple steps will guide you through the process of doing an effective chemical peel at home.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gentle Face Wash
  • Peel
  • Peel Deactivator
  • Moisturizer
  • Timer
  • Cotton Rounds or Cotton Balls
  1. Step 1

Wash your face. Before you get started with the chemical peel, you want to make sure your face is fresh and clean. Wash your face with a mild cleanser. Avoid cleansers that have salicylic acid and vitamin C in them. These may cause your skin to get irritated further on in the process. Towel dry your face.

  2. Step 2

Apply the peel. Usually a chemical peel comes in a bottle. In order to apply the peel, you need to have cotton round or cotton balls. However, the flat texture of the cotton rounds makes them easier to use than the cotton balls. Apply a dime-sized amount of the product to the cotton round or cotton ball. Gently wipe the product onto your face.

  3. Step 3

Look for any strange things. If your skin is sensitive, you might notice some side effects. If you notice any intense stinging or burning, immediately use the peel deactivator to remove the peel. It is important to understand that you will always feel a slight sting when you apply a peel. However, it shouldn’t be unbearably intense.

  4. Step 4

Sit down for a while. Once you’ve applied the peel and don’t notice any unusual signs, sit down and relax for a few minutes. Set the time for the recommended amount of time. Most peels require that you leave them on for 10 to 15 minutes. Some are even less time.

  5. Step 5

Remove the peel. Once the time is up, use a cotton round and the peel deactivator to remove the peel. Make sure you remove the entire product off of your face. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to apply your makeup after you do a chemical peel!
