How to Promote a Restaurant
The restaurant business is a difficult venture. You need to take care of three major issues before the business becomes popular. The food, the employees and marketing are all important for success. You may have the best food and service in the world, but if you cannot fill the seats no one will know this is the case. When you promote a restaurant, several things must happen in order to complete your goal.

1
Place fliers in high traffic areas in town. Some grocery stores for example, display a bulletin board that the public can use to place fliers and advertisements. Placing a menu on one of these can get you some free advertising.
-
2
Distribute your menus to local hotels and motels. People staying in hotels need to eat. If you bring a stack of menus to the front desk, they will usually display it for the public, or give them to people that ask about the local eateries.

3
Display a billboard. Putting a billboard on your property will remind people that you are there, and it is also a good way to show off your specials.
-
4
Place ads in guides. Placing ads in the local “where to eat” guides are a great way to get your business advertised.
-
5
Newspapers and phone books are other places where a lot of people look for a great place to eat. Adding large colorful advertisements in them can draw a lot of attention.
-
6
Promote your business on the street corner. Offering free samples of your food can draw in business quickly and effectively.

Tips & Warnings
Word of mouth is one of the most useful advertising tools that you can take advantage of. If you keep your prices reasonable and the food is good, people will tell their friends to eat at your restaurant.
Try to find a market that is not already over saturated. If there are, for example, ten burger restaurants, and only one or two steakhouses within your town, then you probably will not want to create another burger joint. There would be too much competition already.
Do not over advertise in one specific place. If people see the same advertisements over and over, they tend to lose their meaning, and you may even begin to annoy your target audience.
