This is the second lesson in tying a fishing knot. This knot is different then the previous knot and stronger.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fishing line
  • Jig, hook, or lure
  • clippers
  1. Step 1

Take about 10 inches of line off the spool and fold it over itself. You should have about 5 inches of double line in your hands.

  2. Step 2

Slide your fingers down to the end where the line folds over on itself (closed double line end). Take that end and thread it thru the eye of the hook or lure. Depending on the size of the eye, this will take some patience.

  3. Step 3

Now slide the lure half way down on your double line.

  4. Step 4

Take the closed double line end cross over the other double line and loop it under. Like you are tying a simple knot. The closed end of the double line should have now created a big loop. This loop needs to be big enough to get your hook or lure thru it.

  5. Step 5

Take your hook or lure and drop it back thru the loop you just created with the closed end of the double line.

  6. Step 6

Grab the open end of the line with the main line in one hand and the lure in the other. Pull tight and you are ready to fish.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is an extremely strong knot.
  • Make sure when pulling the ends and the lure the knot settles at the top of the lure and doesn't loop over the eye or jig. If so, push it up to the top with your fingers, and pull tight.
  • Always periodically check your line for nicks and frays
  • Hooks are sharp. You could cut or poke yourself. Be careful!
  • Use a clippers instead of a knife
