How To Keep your Clothes Looking New
-
1
Use cold water as much as possible. Your garments will tell you what to use, but most items of clothing can be cleaned in cold water. Hot water can set stains and wear out fabric faster.
-
2
Do not use fabric softener. You may think that softener helps your clothes, but it actually can do more harm then good on your delicates by wearing them out.
-
-
3
Try washing your clothes inside out if you can. They will still get clean, but it reduces the wear and tear on the outside of the clothing.
-
4
Use bleach as little as possible. Bleach can eat away at the delicate fabrics of your clothing and cause them to wear much faster.
-
5
Use a good stain remover on your clothes before washing for the tougher stains, like grass or blood. Let them soak in cold water, and then wash. Check particularly bad stains to see if they have come out before you dry them; if not, run them through the washing machine again.
-
6
Air dry your clothes as much as possible. You can even hang a line in your basement if you are in the winter or colder months. Not only will it prevent wear and tear on your clothes, you will save energy as well.
