How to Show Love

1. Let your actions and behaviors be a reflection of your love. Treat those you love with kindness and respect. Be there for them when they need you and show them the goodness in your heart. Being there can mean providing a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, being a friend, parent, spouse, lover, teacher, and many other things. There are several ways to express love through your actions and the core of each of them is being true and coming from your heart.

2. Be honest with the people you love. Sometimes the truth hurts but it’s always better to show honesty. You don’t lie or mislead the people you love. People sometimes say, “I’m only telling you this because I love you.” When you show honesty, you’re also showing that you’re trustworthy and people respect that.

3. Share your time with those you love. Time is a precious gift and everyone appreciates it when they get to spend time with those that they love. Sometimes you may have to sacrifice other things in order to be able to spend time with the ones you love.

4. Pay attention to the things that are going on in your loved one's lives. Be encouraging and helpful. If you see someone going through a hard time, let them know you’re there for them even if all you have to offer is your support. Things that you may consider to be small can make a big difference to someone else. A compliment can brighten someone’s day. A gift for no reason can be one way you express your love.

5. Say it. Although actions speak louder than words, everyone needs to hear the words “I love you.” Think of how special you feel when those words are said to you. You want the ones you love to feel special too. When you have children, you tell them you love them all the time. Even though you may believe that your actions show your love, if someone doesn’t hear the words come from your mouth, they might not think that you love them. To some people, words really mean a lot.
