Dreams are the windows to our subconscious. Dreams have the ability to offers us insight into things that are troubling even if we are not conscious of the problems. To exercise control over your dreams is one of the most empowering things you learn. Lucid dreaming can be effective for fighting nightmares, psychological therapy, and even as a means of treating insomnia. Learning to use lucid dreaming, like meditation, is a skill that takes some practice but eventually becomes second nature.

Step1
Be motivated and remember. The most important part of learning to lucid dream is to be motivated the second is training yourself to remember your dreams. Keep a journal near your bed and write down any dreams you remember on waking. Soon you will be remembering your dreams clearly.
Step2
Make pre-sleep suggestions. As you begin to drift into sleep, repeat a request or mantra for the direction you want your dreams to take as you sleep.
Step3
Question frequently. Develop a reflective attitude. Question your state of consciousness while awake by asking yourself “could I be dreaming now?” through out the day.
Step4
Practice dreaming. Sit down and pretend that you are dreaming. Close your eyes and use your imagination to create a “dream.” What your conscious mind learns to do will be transferred to your dream state later.
Step5
Meditate. Studies show that people who practice meditation have higher success learning to lucid dream.
Step6
Change your dreams. Once you realize that you are dreaming, then change start out changing small things to see if you are able to stay in the dream state or if your rational mind will wake you.
