Mmm! Dairy Queen has excellent ice cream, and now you can make it at home! It's fairly easy and preparation is quick...the longest thing to wait for is just refrigeration.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 cup of cold water
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 envelope of powdered unflavored gelatin
Step1
Sprinkle your packet of unflavored gelatin over the water and let it stand for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, heat your milk to almost a simmer on your stovetop. Remove it from the heat.
Step2
Stir in the sugar, vanilla and salt with a wire whisk until it's dissolved all the way, which is about 2 minutes. Next, stir the mixture into the gelatin mixture and let it cool. Stir in your whipping cream, then cover it and refrigerate for 6 hours.
Step3
Transfer the cold mixture into your ice cream machine and process it for about 20 minutes or so until it's creamy, like Dairy Queen's creamy goodness!

Tips & Warnings

  • Serves 2 people
  • Make so many different concoctions with different toppings...ex: m&m's, fresh fruit, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, preserves, gummy bears/worms, etc...anything you like to put on your ice cream!
