With gas prices soaring, the way you use the gas in your vehicle can make a significant difference on how much more mileage you can really gain.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The need to increase your gas mileage.
  1. Step 1

The first and most simplest thing to do is check the air pressure in your tires and make sure all 4 tires are properly inflated. On the side of each tire is the written location of the tire pressure maximum measured in PSI. When adding air to your tires reference the air gauge so not to exceed the maximum amount of air.

  2. Step 2

Try to go other routes if you currently drive in stop and go traffic even if the other route is longer because you will use less gas. When driving in traffic avoid speeding up just to slow down-let your car coast and give gas only when needed.
When you are on an open highway use cruise control

  3. Step 3

Make sure your car has recent oil changes, and try to drive the speed limit because for every 5 miles you drive above the 55 speed limit you are losing more than 9% of your gas.
