Create Your First Hub on Hubpages

Hubpages is a site where you can create "hubs" or pages and make money on the content that you post there. While their revenue sharing model is a little complicated, some find their publishing methods also a little complicated. However, publishing on Hubpages can be fun, easy, and very rewarding (both personally and financially).

Revenue model-People who publish on Hubpages make money with 60% of the Google Adsense page impressions as well as with Amazon's associate program, and e-Bay's affiliate program (you can add these things to each of your "hubs" for additional revenue).

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • Some knowledge to share.
  1. Step 1

Sign up. With Hubpages you will need to sign up by clicking the "login" tab and then "sign up now" arrow.

  2. Step 2

Fill in the required details and read the terms of service. If you agree then click "create my account". This will create your account with Hubpages.

  3. Step 3

Login using the information created during the last step.

  4. Step 4

In several locations as you move around the site you will see a large red arrow that says "start a new hub". Click this to begin.

  5. Step 5

On the first page you will need to enter a title for your hub, and either let it generate a URL (web address) from your title or make one up yourself. You will also need to add tags for your hub. These should be related to the topic and used to help others find your hub.

  6. Step 6

Next is a page that will tell you what you can not make a hub about and a few suggestions about good hubs. This is just a reminder of the Terms of Service and you will need to click "continue".

  7. Step 7

The next page will have a box that is full of tools that add to the value of your hub automatically. Below that are three capsules (Hubpages building blocks). Included in this three is a text block that has to be filled in by clicking edit and typing your text in the box that pops up, a picture capsule which you don't have to use, and a comments capsule which you don't have to use. Edit any of these to include information that you want to include. Delete a capsule by clicking on the X on the right side.

  8. Step 8

You can add capsules by using the "Add more stuff" menu on the right hand side of the screen. Choose as many capsules as you wish including text, pictures, video, and even revenue options.

  9. Step 9

Edit your added capsules to include the things that will make your hub complete.

  10. Step 10

Reorder your capsules so they are in the perfect order using the reorder tool located on the right hand side below the tags. You can simply click and drag them into place then click the "reorder now" button and the capsules will move into place.

  11. Step 11

Read through your hub and make edits where needed. Also reorder things if they would do better else where.

  12. Step 12

Click publish located above your capsules on the right hand side. Your article is now live and available for viewing on the Internet.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go slow, but don't agonize about making the perfect hub. You can always come back later if you need to and edit your first few hubs (or any of your hubs for that matter).
  • Write what you know, it is likely to be easier to put it together.
