Step 1
How to Celebrate the Fourth of JulyThe Fourth of July, Independence Day, is the only holiday that celebrates the United States. It is the day the Declaration of Independence was first adopted by the Continental Congress. This day is normally celebrated by barbeques, baseball games, picnics, parades, family reunions and fireworks, but the best way to celebrate it is to pay tribute to what the Fourth of July stands for. Remember that soldiers were still fighting for our independence from England in 1778, when General George Washington gave his soldiers double rations of rum on that July fourth.

Step 2
Most of us have some type of military base within a three hundred mile radius. Contact the base in May and find out what they need. Whether it is support for the soldiers at the base or their deployed members, see what you can do. There are also many sites on the internet that can connect you with a deployed troop.Once you have established contact with a troop, or a group, plan your typical Fourth of July Party with just one twist. Ask your guests to bring a gift card valued at whatever they choose to put towards the requests from your contact.Make an event of collecting the cards. Make awards for different activities at the party and start some action by doubling the first prize given away and putting it towards the troops. Throw down the gauntlet and start an 'I am going to outdo you' wave.Have a stage, set your Ipod up with patriotic music, ask each donor to come up and drop their card into a basket. Queue up the applause. This works well for the hams of the group.

Step 3
Be sure to video your guests wishing the soldier well and include the DVD in the package you send off to your troop once everything is gathered. If they are deployed you will have to do the shopping for them, but if not, you can just forward the gift cards to your troop directly.

Step 4
There are many soldiers far away from friends and family. If you live near a base, be sure to ask if you can host one or two for the day. They will be thankful and it will make your day.If you have political or personal beliefs that stop you from celebrating Independence Day in this fashion, one simple modification should get you and your guests on board. Simply locate a military hospital and put your donations towards our men and women that have served and have been wounded in action.

Step 5
This day has been celebrated for well over two hundred years, through war and peace, social harmony and discontent. Be sure to do the day justice by wrapping your event in red white and blue. Make sure your flag is in good shape and display it proudly. Find out where your local fireworks show is and attend it after your day of fun and celebration. There is always a way to show you are proud of America and the freedoms we enjoy because of the Declaration of Independence.
