Gas prices are soaring. Do you need to save money on gas? Need to conserve gas and reduce your gas bill? Here are some simple steps that everyone should be doing anyway.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • car
  • road
  • driver
  1. Step 1

Easy on the gas pedal at stop signs. Similarly, don't wait until the last second to stop behind a car or at a stop light. I've read that this can improve gas mileage in the city up to 35%!

  2. Step 2

Don't tailgate. It forces overcompensation on breaking and accelerating which consumes gas at an inefficient rate.

  3. Step 3

No need to let the car warm up. Today's cars can start and go quickly, letting them idle only wastes gas. Same thing for letting the car idle instead of turning it off while waiting, for instance at a convenience store. It's better now to just turn off the car and restart it.

  4. Step 4

Go the speed limit. Limits posted are fuel efficient. 65 MPH is more efficient than 75 MPH, plus the legality of it.

  5. Step 5

Go for a walk. No need to drive to get milk a block away. Just walk over there and burn calories instead!

Tips & Warnings
  • Good luck, rising fuel costs are killing us all!
