How to Make Homemade Suet

Very simple recipe for feeding birds during the winter.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• 1 c. lard (not shortening)
• 1 c. crunchy peanut butter
• 3 c. cornmeal
• 1 c. unbleached flour
• 1-2 c. birdseed

1. Melt lard and peanut butter in microwave oven.

2. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

3. Press into a cake for a suet basket or may be pressed into holes drilled in a small log.

4. May be used year round but tends to melt and become rancid in temperatures above 70 degree Fahrenheit.

Tips & Warnings

• May be frozen until ready to use.
• Do not use shortening.
• Will become rancid in warmer temperatures.
