Mix salt and flour together, then gradually add water until the dough becomes elastic like.
Step2
If your mixture turns out too soft, simply add a little more flour. If it turns out too crumbly, simply add a bit more water.
Step3
Knead the dough until it’s a good consistency. You want the dough to be soft and pliable.
Step4
Now get out your rolling pins, straws, cookie cutters, glitter, paint and whatever else you want to use to shape or decorate your dough with and let the imaginations run wild!
Step5
To make ornaments simply roll out the dough and cut a shape using a cookie cutter. Then, using the end of a straw, cut out a hole in the top to hang ribbon or string through.
Step6
Encourage your kids to "sculpt" their favorite animals, cartoon characters or even make handprint keepsakes.
Step7
If you want to paint the dough, first bake it at 200 degrees until dough is hard. Baking times will vary based on size and thickness of shaped dough.
Step8
In order to keep ornaments or other keepsakes long term they should be sealed with clear varnish or polyurethane spray.
