Get Paid for Your Photos
Get Paid for Your Photos

Have you always wanted to learn how to make money selling your photographs? I will show you where to go to do this.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good digital camera
  • Internet connection
  • Patience
  • Willingness to learn
  1. Step 1

You can make money from your photographs whether you are an amateur or a professional. If you are an amateur there are plenty of free photography learning sites online. Websites such as http://www.schoolofphotography.com/, http://photographycourse.net/, and http://www.shuttermom.com/freelessonarchive.htm are very helpful in teaching you the basics. To learn more about the industry go to http://microstockphotography.com/ .

  2. Step 2

Once you have the basics start signing up for online stock photo agencies. You make money everytime someone downloads your photos. Average rate is .20 per photo. So if you have 2000 downloads that is $400 per month. Some of the best sites are www.istockphoto.com, http://submit.shutterstock.com/, http://www.bigstockphoto.com/, http://www.dreamstime.com/, http://www.123rf.com/, http://us.fotolia.com/, and http://www.canstockphoto.com/. There are plenty more but work on these select few so you are not overwhelmed.

  3. Step 3

Once you have completed steps 1 and 2 start looking around the websites to get ideas of what kinds of pictures are listed. This will give you a lot of ideas.

  4. Step 4

Now start clicking away. The more photos you have listed the bigger opportunity of making money. List each picture on each site. Don't think that listing some on one and different ones on another is the best way. Some people only use 1 site to buy their photos from so you want all your photos on each site.

Tips & Warnings
  • If signing up for more than 1 company is overwhelming then just start with one.
  • Don't pass up the free classes to learn more about photography.
  • Don't let someone else tell you that you can't take good pictures. Everyone has different tastes.
  • Don't freak out if you see your photograph on another website or in a magazine. Remember that you are allowing others to use your pictures when you sign up for these websites.
