Recipe for homemade microwave caramel corn.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 Stick (4 oz.) margarine or butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 4 quarts of POPPED corn
  1. Step 1

    Combine all ingredients except soda and popped corn in a 1 1/2 to 2 quart microwave safe bowl. Put in microwave (on high) and bring to a boil. Allow ingredients to boil for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir in baking soda.

  2. Step 2

    Put the popped corn in a brown grocery bag and pour the syrup over the top of the popped corn.

  3. Step 3

    Close the bag by rolling it down a few times and SHAKE vigorously.

  4. Step 4

    Place bag back into microwave and cook on high for 1 1/2 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Remove bag and shake well.

  6. Step 6

    Repeat steps 4 and 5 two more times.

  7. Step 7

    Place caramel corn on cookie sheets to cool and store in air tight container. Makes a delicious snack!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try adding peanuts!
  • Do NOT leave paper bag in microwave unattended. Doing so could result in a fire.
