Batch Anneal Beads
Batch Anneal Beads

I have been batch annealing for quite a while, not only does this save me time but cost.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kiln
  • "Bunch" of beads
  • Unglazed ceramic dish-if you have one.
  1. Step 1

You need a kiln-(or maybe a friends?). The kiln I use is a ceramic kiln which is programable.

  2. Step 2

Place beads in a ceramic bisque dish-(no glaze) or just on the kiln shelf. I like the dish since it contains the beads and they do not roll around. I just dump them in the dish and yes, they can touch. Close the lid and peepholes.

  3. Step 3

Fire up to 940 degrees-at this temperature the beads will not reach a melting point and therefore will not stick together. I do a fast ramp. Hold at 940 for 30 minutes. This usually takes a little over and hour but will depend on your kiln. Shut the kiln off and let cool down by itself. I usually let the temperature get to 80 degrees. And thats it!
