Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Internet
- Cell Phone Carrier
Step1
Compatibility ~ Make sure you know which cell phones your company will activate. Many companies will only activate certain phones. Call your company or visit their website for a list of what will work. Otherwise, no matter how great the cell phone, it won't be much help.
Step2
Know Your Needs ~ What's a priority for you in a cell phone? Do you live in a remote area that requires better reception? Do you need to take pictures? As with most technology, every gadget you get can cost you quality in other features. Prioritize your needs.
Step3
Research ~ Look online for the right product. Will your carrier even activate your dream phone? Do product reviews reflect quality in the features you need?
Step4
Assess Condition ~ Look carefully at the phone. Are there stains around the grooves or numbers? That's a good indication of moisture damage. Are there scratches and scuffs? Is the screen discolored in any way? The visible condition of a phone can tell you a lot about its history.
Step5
Ask the Seller ~ Ask the seller if the phone works properly. Has it been dropped? What was it used for? How old was the owner? Never buy a phone that was primarily used by a teenager.
