How to Trim Dog Nails

Here's my simple technique to trimming my dog's nails.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• toe nail clipper for humans
• heavy duty human nail filer

1. Wash your dog's feet with soap and water.

2. With toe nail clipper trim all of your dog's nails as close as you can get it to the quick (the pink vein inside the nail).

3. Now go back and file each nail so that there are no sharp spots. Filing also gets you closer to the quick.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not let your dog's quick get too long because if it does, you'll have to get them surgically trimmed which can cost a lot. To prevent them from getting too long, trim and file your dog's nails each week.
