How to Build Your Own Outdoor Kitchen

The latest craze to hit the backyard this summer is the outdoor kitchen. What is more convenient than being able to cook your entire meal outside without having to run inside to get the meat and then run back inside 5 minutes later to get the BBQ sauce? After you build your own outdoor kitchen, you will be able to simply relax and enjoy the outdoors while grilling up your favorite meals!

1. Cabinets: You can build your own cabinets with weatherproof materials or purchase pre-made cabinets for your kitchen. Make sure to add plenty of counter space so you can cook with ease!

2. Cooking Unit: There are many options you can add to your kitchen including a gas grill, a rotisserie, a smoker, or a stove. How do you like to cook outdoors?

3. Sink: You can wash your hands after throwing around the football or get a drink to cool you down. Having a sink in your kitchen will also make cleanup easier. Wash your grilling utensils right at the sink and then store them away in your cabinets until you're ready for them again. Need to fill a pot of water to boil some corn; you will be able to accomplish this with ease.

4. Refrigerator: Add an outdoor refrigerator to your kitchen to keep the days grilling supplies fresh. Don't forget to keep your favorite condiments in the refrigerator too so you don't have to make an unnecessary trip back inside. Make sure your refrigerator is stainless steel to protect against weather damage.

5. As with any grill, carefully select the location where you'll be using it. Avoid locating your grill next to wood, combustibles, or siding. Try to locate your outdoor kitchen in an area close to gas lines and water lines for convenient installation of your grilling appliance and sink.

6. Make sure your outdoor kitchen has some type of overhead coverage. You'll still be able to enjoy cooking outside even when it's raining!

7. Add locks to cabinets and refrigerators to keep your cooking supplies and food secure while they are not in use.
