Things You'll Need:
- Rocking Chair
- Felt strips
- Heavy glue
-
Step 1
Buy two strips of felt. This can usually be bought at any craft store. Make sure that the felt is thin and soft. Get two strips of felt, one for each rocking area to keep a rocking chair from sliding.
-
Step 2
Use a scissors to cut the felt. Take a tape measure, or a ruler and measure the felt to be a little smaller than the bottom of the rocking chair rails. This will make sure the felt is not noticed and will not end up with broken edges and make it unsightly.
-
Step 3
Find glue that is heavy duty so it will paste the strips to the rocking chair on the bottom. This felt when glued on will stop a rocking chair from sliding when it is not sitting on a carpet.
-
Step 4
Do not sit on the chair until the next day. It will take that much time to completely dry. This method is much less expensive than buying a new rocking chair.

on 6/10/2008 Great idea. I am going to try this. I have been blessed with 4 grandbabies in the last 3 years. 3, 2, 18 mo. 12 mo. I have an old wood rocker and it never stays in place. Thanks for the tip.
