1 large silver baker's bowl (or a glass bowl safe enough to create a double boiler)
Step1
Freshly washed strawberries.
Wash strawberries. Dry them thoroughly with paper towels.
Step2
Cookie tray with wax paper set on top.
On high heat, place the small pot with 2 cups of water inside (make sure that the pot will allow the glass bowl or silver baker's bowl to sit on top with out tipping). Let them come to a simmer or boil. Take out the large plate or cookie sheet with the sheet of wax paper on top.
Step3
Hershey chocolate inside of the double boiler.
Once the water has come to a simmer, place the glass bowl or silver baker's bowl on top of the pot. This is known as a double boiler.
Once the bowl has begun to heat up (or has sat on top of the double boiler for at least 1 minute) unwrap the chocolate from the king sized Hershey bars and crumble them into the bowl. Use the spatula to continuously stir the chocolate until it becomes smoothe and creamy. Be sure to turn off the heat and remove the bowl with the chocolate off of the boiling water. You do not want the chocolate to burn from being on top too long. If the chocolate needs to be reheated, simply place back on top of the pot until warm and remove.
Step4
Once chocolate has become a smoothe substance, simply grab the strawberry by the head or stem and coat the strawberry with a layer of the melted chocolate. Place the covered strawberry onto the wax paper.
Repeat with remainder of the strawberries.
Step5
Once the strawberries have all been covered in chocolate and are all on the wax paper, take the tray of strawberries and place into fridge for at least 5-10 minutes to allow them to cool.
Once they have cooled- ENJOY!
Tips & Warnings
A double boiler is when there's water boiling in a pot and there's a glass or silver bowl on top which the substance inside may cook using the heat rising from the boiling water. Many cooks and chef's use this method for easy to burn substances while cooking.
If the strawberries are still too wet from washing them, the chocolate won't stay on right.
Wax paper will help the chocolate resist to sticking on to the plate once they have cooled.
Be sure to turn off the heat and remove the bowl with the chocolate off of the boiling water. You do not want the chocolate to burn from being on top too long. If the chocolate needs to be reheated, simply place back on top of the pot until warm and remove.
Be sure to use protection on your hand when you grab the glass bowl or silver baker's bowl from the boiling pot.
