How to Beat the Second Boss in No More Heroes

The 9th ranked assassin is a bit tougher than the last boss. This guy doesn’t have great melee power, but he’s got a pair of pistols that pack a hefty punch. Fortunately, this guy has clear weaknesses that can be exploited for an easy fight.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Save before you go in. Always a good idea.
2. Lock onto him. You’ll need to block a lot, so locking on helps. You’ll need to get inside the baseball diamond to lock onto him, so close quickly. If you don’t get close to him quickly, he’ll start to pelt you with shots, which will slow your advance.
3. Block his regular shots. Simply not attacking will do this on Normal mode. On Hard, it takes a little finesse, but can be done. He switches between high and low shots, so watch yourself. DO NOT attempt to attack him while he’s shooting.
4. Wait until he stops shooting before you try to attack him. He will fire two barrages at you before stopping. When he stops, hit him with all you’ve got. You may need to recharge in between, since blocking his shots burns up a lot of your battery.
5. Stay close. This is one of the keys to this fight. Staying in close to him robs him of his range advantage. He can still shoot you at close range, but at least you’ll be able to hit back.
6. Hit him with a charge attack when you see him charge. Doing so will cancel his charge attack and leave him open for a couple seconds, during which you can wail on him. Whatever you do, DO NOT let him unleash his charge attack! His attack not only hurts a lot, but knocks you back a good distance. If he does manage to get you, run back to him as fast as you can.
7. Grab the boxes for more health and batteries if you need to. You probably won’t, but just in case. They’re next to the dugouts.
