Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use several internet sites to find out about bed and breakfast, locations, rates, and amenities. Also use the sites to view interior and exterior photos of the various bed and breakfast choices.Sites usually provide a link to the website of the actual bed and breakfast as well.Read the internet sites to find other traveler's reviews and ratings of their stay at a particular bed and breakfast.

  2. Step 2

Use internet maps of the near-by area to consider how close the bed and breakfast is to the attractions you are interested in, such as the beach or near-by shopping. Make sure that there are enough activities for children to do nearby.

  3. Step 3

Call the bed and breakfast directly to confirm current rates and get a general feel for the establishment. Part of the charm of staying at a bed and breakfast is experiencing the hospitality of the staff. Don't underestimate the value of talking to the actual person who will be providing you with service during your stay.

  4. Step 4

Ask the innkeeper if breakfast is included in the price of the room, and what foods and drinks are served for breakfast. Make sure to ask if your room has private bathroom or if you must share facilities with other guests in a restroom located outside of your room. It never hurts to ask if they are offering any special promotions or offers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to check if smoking is permitted and if children are allowed at the bed and breakfast you are interested in. Inquire if there is an age minimum for children as well.
  • Ask about check-in and check-out times before you arrive. You would not want to barge in on the inn keeper once he has gone to sleep.
  • Also ask if the bed and breakfast accepts credit cards.
  • Be sure to know the inn's cancellation policy.
