If you are need of some new decor--a touch of you, perhaps--then consider making a clay molded bowl, perfect for the living room or office. Here's how it's done.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dry clay
  • Dextrine
  • Paint

How to Make a Clay Molded Bowl

  1. Step 1

Roll your clay into a ball.

  2. Step 2

Hold the clay ball in one hand, and then press your thumb from the other hand into the middle of the ball to create a hole.

  3. Step 3

Use your thumb in the middle and your other fingers on the outside to guide the clay into the desired shape.

  4. Step 4

Continue shaping, slowly turning the clay in your hand, until the bowl's shape is complete.

  5. Step 5

Add Dextrine to the surface of the bowl. This will cause the clay to harden without the necessity of firing it in a kiln.

  6. Step 6

    Paint as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to maintain the same thickness all the way around your bowl.
  • Experiment with shape. Your bowl can be round, shell, oval or free form.
  • Once your bowl is complete, it will be fragile--so be careful!
