Jeans seem to never go out of style. So many of us wear our favorite pair until it is ripped to shreds. When a favorite pair is torn through active wear, there is sometimes a style panic. Not to fear! Here is how to take an old ripped pair of jeans, and you can make them funky patchwork pants.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Old Jeans
  • Old Flannel Shirts
  • Colored Fabric Scraps
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Needle
  1. Step 1

Assess your old flannel shirts and colored fabrics, and choose your color scheme. Cut the chosen fabrics into small shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles) and set aside.

  2. Step 2

Map out where you want each scrap to go. Place each scrap over a ripped or normal area of your jeans to get an idea of what your finished product will look like.

  3. Step 3

Place the thread through the eye of your needle, and sew your patches onto your jeans. Be patient. This is the most tedious step. You might want to watch TV or listen to music while you do this; it could take a while.

  4. Step 4

Cut excess thread away from your patches. Your jeans will look quite messy if there is string hanging everywhere.

  5. Step 5

Put on your funky new jeans, and hit the town. Your jeans were once old and worn. Now they are now new and fresh!

Tips & Warnings
  • Pick complimenting colors for the cutest possible pair of jeans.
  • Don't put too many patches on your jeans. Everything in moderation!
