How to Throw a Children's Superman Birthday Party
-
1
Make super hero themed invitations but make sure that Superman is the showcased hero. If store-bought invitations are too pricey, download some images of the caped crusader from the Internet and insert them into your homemade invites.
-
2
Purchase Superman themed table napkins, paper plates, cups and goody-bags. Consider purchasing several helium filled Superman themed balloons.
-
-
3
Make a Superman cape. This can be as simple as taking a red towel, sewing a button on one corner, and cutting an appropriately-sized button slit on the other corner.
-
4
Cut the shape of the Superman logo out of a piece of firm cardboard. Paint or color the logo onto the cardboard. Glue some Velcro onto the back of it. Now paint the outline of a man on a long sheet of poster paper (this is meant to be Superman). Glue a large piece of complementary Velcro all over Superman's chest. Using a marker, outline the logo shape in the middle of the Velcro. Hang the paper up on a wall in your home (or wherever the party is to be held).

Begin the party with a game: Superman Tag. To play, fit the Superman cape to the child who is "it." Just as in regular tag, the child chases the other children (the "bad guys") and tries to tag them. The child who is tagged first becomes Superman. An alternate form of the game involves the children who are tagged sitting out or, in Superman talk, going to prison and waiting for the rest of the "bad guys" to get caught!
-
6
Begin game number two: Pin the "S" on Superman. To play, blindfold the child selected to go first, spin the child around several times, then hand the child the cardboard Superman logo. Allow the "blind" child to try and stick the logo in the correct place--directly into the red-outlined Superman logo. Take turns. The winner is the child who pins the "S" closest to the red outline of the Superman logo.
-
7
Bring out the cake--a Superman cake, that is. Get an already made yellow or white cake at the store and use dyed frosting to create a Superman logo in the middle.
-
8
Open presents. Put the cape on the birthday boy or girl as the presents are opened.

Tips & Warnings
Consider playing Superman themed music (Superman movie soundtracks, for example) in the background throughout the party.
Superman Tag can get a little rough with so many would be super heroes running around so proper supervision is a must.
