Things You'll Need:
- Tailor's tape measure
- An assistant
-
Step 1
Obtain a tailor's tape measure. Most men don't have these lying around but a tailor's tape measure can be found anywhere standard sewing supplies are sold.
-
Step 2
Find someone to assist you in taking the measurements if the dress shirt is for you.
-
Step 3
Hold your arm out to your side at a 90 degree angle while your assistant measures from your spine to your wrist. Round up to the nearest whole inch to find your sleeve length.
-
Step 4
Measure around your neck keeping two fingers between your neck and the tape measure to make sure that in your final measurement you will have enough room for movement. Round up to the nearest inch or half inch to find your collar size.
-
Step 5
Put these two measurements side by side. For example: 15 (collar size) 32/33 (sleeve length). Now head off to your local men's fashion retailer to pick up your perfect fit shirt.

on 9/19/2008 What about length? I purchased this dress shirt and it was way too long... Sometimes I like to wear dress shirts untucked.
