Many young girls and boys dream of becoming a fashion model and someday being rich, famous and beautiful. Unfortunately most won't ever become supermodels but there are a lot of sleazy people out there who will take advantage of these bright young hopefuls. So, here is how to begin your modeling career the right way.

Study models. Watch runway shows, analyze print ads and stare at fashion magazines. Particularly look at facial expressions, body lines and angles.

Imitate what you see. Have friends take photos of you. Study yourself, what looks good and what doesn't. Pay attention to flattering body lines and angles. Take a couple classes to get some more advice from industry folks who can watch and correct you.

Attend open calls and open auditions. Send photos and inquiry letters to legitimate agents and managers. Do your research online to find what agencies and managers are legit. Start with the largest and most reputable.

Look for a photographer. If you get an agent or manager they will likely have photographers to recommend you to. Look at their books and make sure your styles will match. Set up a shoot date. Take lots of clothes and looks with you. Zed cards have several pictures on them so you want each look to be different.

Start auditioning and going to go sees. Listen to what the casting directors and others tell you. Critiques can only help later! Good luck!
