Things You'll Need:
- Never ending passion and ambition.
- Wear a size 10 up to 28.
- Be between 5'8" to 6' in height (exceptions apply- see tips!)
- Have shapely legs
- Have a proportionate body
-
Step 1
Finding the right agency. You'll need a professional agency to manage and promote you- the right way. So to start, you'll need to do your homework on which agency to go try out with. Make sure they are reputable and respected by other professionals in the same industry.
You should call a few top agencies with in your area to set up a meeting. Some agencies may require you to fill out lengthy forms before even seeing you and they may re-size you once you are there to get your exact measurements.
You should wear minimal make-up and casual clothes, nothing too trendy or tight. Heels are fine as long as you don't wear any obvious heels that are trying to give you extra height.
If you are signed on, you will have to create a portfolio. -
Step 2
Portfolio's are important in modeling, however, when you're first trying to break into modeling, a portfolio isn't necessary when searching for an agency. Instead, you should try to have photos taken with little make-up to show your natural beauty, a full smile shot, a head shot, and a full body photo wearing comfortable clothes, and one which shows your legs (either in shorts or swimming suit, which ever you are more comfortable in).
-
Step 3
Attend open calls whenever you can. The modeling industry is hard, however, when given direct criticism just smile and say "thank you" and keep going. Open calls are when designers are looking for a model in their show. It may be intense, but worth it if you get booked. Dress casual with minimal make-up as they will have you try on their clothes and take a photo of you.
-
Step 4
Never give up if this is something you really want to do. Not everyone is signed up on their first call with an agency. They're always looking for new faces and different looks.
You have to have tough skin and a real drive to go far. Never let a set-back or a road block stop you. Good luck!
