  • 1 big bowl of stale bread, cut up
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cup chopped fruit
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice

      Preheat oven to 325 F.

      Combine the bread and milk in a large pot and heat gently over medium low heat. Stir in the fruit, spices and eggs and mix thoroughly.

      Bake at 325 F for two hours. During the last five minutes, sprinkle the top with brown sugar and a little more butter.

      Let the bread pudding cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
