How to Make An Easy Chili Cheese Dip

Chili cheese dip is a popular and easy-to-make appetizer. Serve it at a football party, a Cinco de Mayo celebration or as a festive treat for a backyard get-together. This appetizer serves eight.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 2 lb. processed cheese, cut in cubes
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes, drained
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 green chili pepper, chopped
  • Jalapeno pepper, sliced
  • Tortilla chips
  1. Step 1

    Cook the chopped onion and chili pepper in about 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent. Remove and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Add the sausage to the skillet and cook until it is no longer pink. Break up the pieces with a wooden spoon or spatula. Drain on paper towels.

  3. Step 3

    Place the onion, pepper and sausage in a medium saucepan. Add the cheese and the tomatoes.

  4. Step 4

    Heat the mixture over medium-low heat untl the cheese is melted and the dip in heated through.

  5. Step 5

    Pour the dip into a stoneware crock or other serving dish and garnish with a sliced jalapeno pepper. Serve with tortilla chips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a spicy sausage, like chorizo, for a more exotic and tangy dip.
