How to Become a Model Manager

Learn about the industry and how it works. Work for a year or so at an agency or management company. You'll learn the ins and out of the how things work by watching others.

Find some office space to set up your business at. Decide what type of modeling manger you want to be; children, print, fashion, fitness, men, all. Hold an open casting call to find talent. Network at industry events and parties to get to know agents.

Groom your clients. Set up individual meetings and go over what each model needs to work on. Give each client a "to do list" and tell them to have the items completed within two weeks. Schedule a follow up meeting to go over the alterations.

Schedule photo shoots for each client to get her zed card and headshot photos. Pick the best photos and work on their layouts and resume's. Contact agents and set up meetings for your clients. You need your clients to be represented by agents as agents are the ones who actually get the work for models and negotiate contracts. As a manager you are there merely to manage and groom.

Give your clients career advice and coaching sessions as they start to get agents and go-sees or auditions. Continue to look for promising talent and start their process. As your clients begin to work and become recognized so will your company. Their reputation is your reputation. Good luck!
