Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Finger foods
- Candles
- A tablecloth
- Silverware
- A set of matching dishes
- A few recipes that you can cook well
Step1
Research your date's likes and dislikes before you plan a romantic meal. If you do not know each other very well yet, it's OK to ask questions related to their favorite and least favorite foods. Also be sure to know if your date is vegetarian or vegan. Ask if they have any allergies or food intolerances as well. It won't be very romantic if your date has an allergic reaction to your romantic meal.
Step2
Prepare either an appetizer or a dessert that needs to be eaten with fingers. Any stuffed mushroom or vegetable dipping appetizer invites the opportunity for you and your date to feed each other. The same holds true for dessert. Sharing fresh fruit and warm, chocolate dipping sauce is a romantic way to end the meal.
Step3
Plan to have a couple of hours to eat the meal together. The most romantic meals are the ones when you can linger, take your time, and savor every delicious moment together. Schedule the romantic meal early enough in the evening so you have enough energy for the meal and any post-meal activities.
Step4
Select recipes that can be made ahead of time and placed on the stove top or in the oven. Choose recipes that will not keep you in the kitchen too long during the final preparation moments of the meal. Plan to serve the romantic meal about half an hour after your guest arrives. You don't want to serve the food the minute they walk in the door. Give your guest time to relax and settle in when serving a romantic meal.
Step5
Set the mood when you plan an romantic meal. The mood can be a formal setting, at the dining room table. Use flowers and your best dishes. Leave a small note in the plate of your guest, thanking them for coming to dinner. Another option is to set up a picnic on the floor in the living room. Use a real picnic blanket and picnic basket. Decorate with flowers and plants, and play ambient nature music.
