It is not difficult to change the page layout in Microsoft Word. The page layout includes margins, paper size and paper source.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Click "File" and then "Page Setup" menu on the top of the Microsoft Word screen while inside the document you are working with. A dialog box will appear on your screen that contains four choices listed in tab format.

Click on "Margins" tab to change the margin settings by number. Generally left and right margins range between .5" and 1.0". Click the numbers accordingly to change.

Click the "Paper Size" tab which is to the right of the "Margins" tab in that same dialog box. This is especially helpful for changing the orientation in Word from Portrait to Landscape (horizontal printing). You can also adjust the paper size, for example to 8 1/2" x 14" if you have legal or to many other size choices. Just type in the numbers as needed. Apply changes to all or part of the document by using the drop down arrow towards the bottom and click "OK."

  4. Step 4
    Paper Source tab is highlighted
