      Launch Quicken 2008 Home & Business Edition. From the main screen, click on “Business” from the drop-down menus at the top and then select “Mini Business Planner.”

      Review the information that will be detailed in your business plan and then click on “Start Your Mini Plan.”

      Enter your Executive Summary in the box provided. For information on the details to include, read the text located underneath the Executive Summary box and click on the “Example” link to view a sample Executive Summary. After you have completed your Executive Summary, click on “Next.”

      List your business objectives. Use the “Instructions” and “Example” link in the Page Help box to guide you in choosing your business goals. Once you have entered all of your business objectives, click “Next.”

      Type in your “Mission Statement” in the text box. A company’s mission statement is extremely important as it conveys your goals plus the benefits that you can offer to your customer. Read the instructions for more detailed information and again refer to the example. Once you have entered your mission statement, click on “Next.”

      Determine what your “Keys to Success” are and input them in to the Quicken 2008 Home & Business Mini Business Plan. Thinking about success is important for all small businesses, by taking the time to put this information on paper you will be able to refer back to it as needed. This helps keep you on target as your business grows. Once you have entered your keys to success, click on “Next.”

      Fill out the “Market Analysis” table. Every successful business needs to know how much work the market can support. To ensure that you are entering the appropriate information in this section, read the instructions thoroughly. After you have entered the required data, click on “Next.”

      Detail your “Market Analysis” plan in the text box provided. Use the example provided in the Page Help box for details on how to take the information from your market analysis table and convert it to text. Once you have entered this information, click on “Next” to continue.

      Complete the “Break Even Analysis.” If a business is not making money, it is merely a hobby. You will need to determine the break even point as part of your Quicken 2008 Mini Business Plan. Click on “Next.”

      Enter your company’s “Profit and Loss” information for the current year as well as future years. Verify your numbers and then click on “Next.”

      Read the information on the screen and then click on “View” to view your completed Mini Business Plan.
