How to Use Adobe After Effects Software

In today's day and age there are software programs that help you make virtually anything you want. You can event shoot and produce a Hollywood-like movie. Adobe After Effects software allows the user to add in digital motion graphics and work with the compositing. It is sometimes called the Photoshop of video. Read on to learn how to use Adobe After Effects software.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Adobe After Effects software
  1. Step 1

    Create a new project by going to the file tab and selecting "New" then "Project." Import your video clips. These will go into a bin and you can select and move them as needed.

  2. Step 2

    Drop the video clips onto the timeline. You can have a single timeline or several different layers. To move items simply click on them and pull them to the desired location.

  3. Step 3

    Create transitions with the tool bar. Alter the transparency of clips to create levels with the layers and make things look futuristic or simply create inexpensive special effects.

  4. Step 4

    Import still clips, audio or multimedia elements. Go to "File" and then "Import." These will go to your storage bin just like the video clips. Add these in and play with the elements.

  5. Step 5

    Render the video and watch a preview to make sure the transitions and effects appear correct. Export the video. That's it. Just play with the program and you'll soon learn the ins and outs of everything little aspect. Good luck!
