Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer
  • iTunes software
  • A Portable Digital Audio or Video player (optional)

    Download

  1. Step 1

Download and install the iTunes software, if you do not have it already.

  2. Step 2

    Run iTunes.

  3. Step 3

Open the iTunes Store from within iTunes. Don't worry. You do not have to buy anything. You do not even need to set up an account.

  4. Step 4

Click the "Podcasts" button at the top of the screen. From here you will be shown a variety of video and audio podcasts. All podcasts are available free of charge. Be careful not to confuse them with the for-fee video and audio content also available at the iTunes Store.

  5. Step 5

Browse through the available selections to find content that interests you. Remember to notice which items are audio podcasts and which are video podcasts. Video podcasts have much larger file sizes, and require a video enabler player to watch. Audio podcasts are much smaller, and my be enjoyed on most audio players. By electing to subscribe, you will automatically receive new version of the programs you select. You may subscribe to as many or as few as you like.

  6. Step 6

Transfer the podcast to your player or, alternatively, you can watch or listen to it you right on your computer.

  7. Step 7

Return to the iTunes software (rather than the iTunes Store), and click on "podcasts" in the column on the left side of the screen. From here you can manage your various podcasts by deciding which one to sync with your iPod, how many episodes to keep on your computer at a time, as well as deleting old ones you have already listened to or watched.
