In our fast paced society, it is oftentimes difficult to find time for ourselves. Taking a hot, relaxing bath helps to ease the tensions and stresses to which we subject ourselves. The use of herbs to help relax the body and mind is thousands of years old. It just seems that over time we have distanced ourselves from the old ways, and then when we accidentally stumble over them we are surprised to learn that maybe our ancestors were onto something. Read on to learn how to make a relaxing herbal bath sachet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Medium size muslin drawstring bag
  • Ribbon (approx.) 6 inches in length
  • Chamomile
  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  1. Step 1

Gather the herbs and materials needed. You can purchase these herbs at almost any health food store, farmers' market or grocery. If you grow your own herbs even better. Freshly picked herbs are marvelous for your sachet.

  2. Step 2

Sit for a few minutes and relax. Focus on your intent. Ask a spirit, or whichever divinity you feel most comfortable working with, to guide your working as you make the sachet.

  3. Step 3

Mix the herbs by hand in a bowl made from natural materials. While mixing, infuse the herbs with positive, relaxing energies.

  4. Step 4

Fill the muslin bag about 3/4 full with chamomile, vervain, lavender and rosemary. Use your own discretion, and preference, as to the amount of each herb you use. (Some lean more heavily toward to the lavender or chamomile with smaller amounts of the vervain and rosemary.)

  5. Step 5

Once you have filled the bag, pull the drawstring so that the bag is closed. Tie a small knot as closely to the bag as possible. Let the rest of the drawstring fall to the side of the bag.

  6. Step 6

Take the ribbon and tie it around the top of the sachet. As you tie the ribbon, keep your mind focused on the positive and relaxing energies which you have brought to this working. Don't forget to give thanks to your kindred spirit.

  7. Step 7

When you go to run the bath, use the excess drawstring to tie the sachet to the faucet itself so that the water runs over the herbs as the bath fills. Or you can simply drop the sachet into the bath water.

Tips & Warnings
  • Herbs used for this working are up to individual discretion. Feel free to use the herbs listed alone, or in combination with one another.
  • Don't approach a working like this unless you are focused. If you make a half-hearted attempt, you will get the same kind of result.
  • You can make the sachets as simple, or as intricate, as you wish.
  • If you make a sachet ahead of time, just remember to store it as you would any other item made with herbs--away from moisture and direct sunlight.
