Herbal shampoos are all natural hair products that may be used in conjunction with or instead of your usual shampoo and hair treatment products. By adding certain herbs to a basic mixture, you can create a custom hair product that is ideal for your hair alone. In this article, we will discuss how to make herbal shampoo.

Place the dried herbs in the 10 ounce jar. If you prefer to use fresh herbs, you will need 1/4 cup of each.

  2. Step 2

Boil the spring water. You can boil it in the microwave by leaving it in the microwave safe measuring cup and microwaving it on high for several minutes. Keep an eye on the water so that you can remove it when it starts boiling s that it does not evaporate.

  3. Step 3

Pour the boiling spring water over the herbs. Be careful not to spill any, as the hot water will burn you.

  4. Step 4

Steep the herbs for 20 minutes. You should cover the jar so that none of the water evaporates.

  5. Step 5
Many people use special herb bowls and pestles to crush their herbs and mix their shampoo. You can also use a regular mixing bowl and spoon--just wash them thoroughly afterward.

Strain the liquid into a large mixing bowl. This will separate the herbs from the herbal "tea" that will become your shampoo.

  6. Step 6

Mix in the liquid castile soap and apricot kernel oil.As you mix the liquid, it will become slightly thicker and opaque.

  7. Step 7

Scent the shampoo with the essential oils. Do not stop mixing until the entire mixture is a solid color and consistency. You can add more essential oils for a stronger-smelling shampoo.

  8. Step 8

Transfer the mixture to the clean shampoo bottle. You should be able to get about 24 shampoos out of a single batch.

Tips & Warnings
  • This herbal shampoo is good for normal hair. Adding other herbs to the basic recipe will help treat dandruff, dry hair, oily hair and many other hair problems.
