So you want to get your child reading, and you want to inspire him with a love for this hobby. This society presents many challenges to that goal. Even kids who love to read are sometimes loathe to do so with all the other options for entertainment. Most kids today want to play electronics instead of reading a good book. 1. Enroll in a good reading program.You can set one up yourself by offering your child rewards for a certain number of books read. You could even make it a weekly prize for completing all their reading hours for the week!
2. Find literature that interests the child. Books, magazines and even comic books can provide a variety of topics the child will be interested in.
3. Set a certain time of day to read. Make this time a quiet and serene time. Include everyone in the house. Read a book yourself, or read to younger children who cannot yet read. When you share your child’s reading experience with them, he will learn to love reading.
4. Go to the library every two weeks. The kids will look forward to this time. Let him know that he needs to pick out a certain amount of books to read over a period of two weeks. You can pick some yourself that you think he may be interested in.
5. Purchase a new video for your kid to watch after he reads a certain amount of books. You set the limit. It will be extra motivation. You could even make it a video based on one of his books.

• Screen what the child will read, and make sure it is appropriate for both his age level and content.
• Avoid including reading on the computer as time that qualifies for their reading time.
