Customers expect that a business will accept credit card payments in addition to other payment types. Providing this option to your customers will help provide your business with a professional appearance and can potentially boost sales.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Business Tax ID
  • Internet Connection
  1. Step 1

To accept credit card payments from your customers you will need to locate a merchant online that offers payment processing and submit an application.

  2. Step 2

Most payment processing merchants require a business that is applying to have a Business Tax ID, so be sure to have this information handy.

  3. Step 3

Processing merchants usually charge different fees per transaction depending on how many transactions per month you are expecting. Evaluate your current sales and be sure to give an honest representation of the amount of credit card payments you expect to receive every month.

  4. Step 4

Different merchants charge different rates, and some will charge both a monthly fee and a "per transaction" fee. Shop around and find a merchant that offers the best price for your volume of sales.

  5. Step 5

Once your business is accepted by a merchant, you will need to either acquire a credit card processing machine for a retail store, or an online shopping cart for a web store. Some merchants will sell these directly, while others will recommend specific products to you and inform you of where they can be purchased.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very certain of your volume of credit card sales per month before committing to a merchant. If the price per transaction is high enough, it will not be profitable to continue to offer credit card payments.

on 8/21/2008 http://www.ezinfocenter.com/10289773/ms).As we all know the global credit crunch still continues to wreak havoc in the financial markets, and for the average consumer this means that there has been an increase in borrowing costs when it comes to loans, credit cards, mortgages, and other forms of finance.

Lenders have been increasing their interest rates over the past year due to the problems caused by the global credit crunch, which has spelt bad news for most people.

This is why it has become increasingly important to take the time to compare credit cards and loans before you make any commitment these days, as this can save you money on the cost of borrowing. Although most lenders have raised the cost of borrowing money when it comes to credit cards and loans due to the global credit crunch, there can still be a considerable difference in rates between lenders.

on 8/21/2008 Your credit score is one of the most important factors http://www.ezinfocenter.com/10289773/ms).for you to obtain a loan or a job. It is important that you keep track and are aware of what your credit score is and that you try to improve it. All of the credit agencies, Experian, TransUnion, Equifax are required by law to allow you to obtain a credit report for free once a year. It is important that you take advantage of getting your free credit report because this is how you can monitor your credit score and make sure that it is accurate.

In many cases your credit report may not be accurate and it is up to you to dispute any item that is incorrect on your credit report. If you find some error on your report this can greatly effect your credit score and can keep you form getting a low interest loan.

Another way to get a free credit report is if you have been denied for a loan or cre

on 8/21/2008 http://www.ezinfocenter.com/10289773/ms).There is no such thing as a good credit card - however some credit card deals are better than others.

It is very easy to grow fond of credit cards especially when you get your brand new card with a zero balance. Now you can head out and do some shopping. On the way you can fill your car with gas and maybe get it washed as well.

The point is this; a credit card is very easy to use, in actual fact too easy to use, which results more often than not in over spending. Then when it comes to the bill the balance is too high, so you make the minimum payment.

Of course if the balance is too high today, then the balance will be too high tomorrow, especially when you continue spending. As a result of which you find yourself on the slippery road into debt.

This is where many of us find ourselves today, wondering how that credit card balance got so
