So its official. You are hooked on paint ball and have decided to make the leap from the basic boring rentals at the fields to a your own marker. Building your own marker is one of the most exciting parts of playing paint ball.

Things You'll Need:

  • A marker
  • Paint ball magazines
  • A place to play
  1. Step 1

    Decide if you want to specialize in woods/scenario play or speed ball. Although technically any gun will be adaptable for any mode of paint ball, certain guns are more adaptable for woods play or speed ball.

  2. Step 2

    Play with friend's markers. This will give you a great idea of what you like. It is a free test drive of markers that will teach you about different markers and their possible modifications.

  3. Step 3

    Research markers. Before you purchase it is important to learn about different guns. It is extremely important to buy the gun you will want for a long time because of how expensive markers are.

  4. Step 4

    Purchase your marker. Take it to the field and play with it. Get used to your new marker.

  5. Step 5

    Decide what you would like to improve upon on your marker. Would you like better accuracy? Upgrade to a better barrel. Or you chopping balls- try moving to an electronic hopper.

  6. Step 6

    Do one modification at a time. This allows you to make sure you like each individual modification

  7. Step 7

    Enjoy playing with your personalized marker. You should be proud of the gun you built!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always read the instructions as you don't want to break your gun due to carelessness.
  • Make sure to take your gun apart and clean often. This keeps your gun in the best possible operating shape.
  • Don't get rid of parts as you upgrade. You will be surprised what you or a friend may need for back up.
