How to Draw Funny Faces

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never drawn a funny face, or if you draw funny faces all the time. You can draw a face so funny that no one will be able to keep a straight face—which also happens to be a very good starting point for a funny face! The great thing about drawing funny faces: You don’t have to be a professional artist to create a chuckle-inducing work of art. So take out some paper and a pencil or open your computer drawing program and get ready to draw some really funny faces.

Draw Funny Faces

1. Draw the head. A big head with tiny eyes, nose, mouth and ears, or a tiny head with huge ears and bugged out eyes are both funny. You can pair a tiny pointed chin with a huge forehead. Don’t be shy—experiment.

2. Draw the eyes. You can draw wide open eyes to reflect surprise, or nearly closed eyes to reflect anger. Add eyebrows at strange angles and eyelashes that are 3 inches long if you want to create a funny look. Or try one large eye and one small eye, or just one eye. Shocking can be funny.

3. Draw the nose. Noses are fun to draw. You can draw two dots to represent a nose or a simple vertical or horizontal line. You can even draw a nose shaped like a fish or a hammer. Unexpected can be funny.

4. Draw the mouth. It can be open or closed. Lips can be full or thin. Add teeth if you like. You can draw one tooth, missing teeth, or teeth that are shaped like things other than teeth. You can draw a goofy grin or a zigzag line to represent the mouth.

5. Draw the hair. You can add a wild hairdo to a very serious face. You can draw a beehive hairdo that is a real beehive. You can draw one curl on an otherwise bald head. Messy hair and hair that is something other than hair are funny to look at.

6. Add finishing touches to funny faces such as wrinkles, facial hair, freckles, tattoos or earrings. A moustache on a refined woman is hilarious, and so is a pacifier hanging out of an old geezer’s mouth. Maybe the old geezer has crow’s feet and is wearing lipstick, too. Your imagination is your only limitation when it comes to funny details.
