- Deck umbrella
- PVC piping
- Nut and bolt
- Wood screws
- Lag bolts
- Drill
- Hand tools

How to Build a Deck Rail Umbrella Holder

Determine where you want to place the umbrella.Find a spot on the outside rail of the deck. Measure the vertical height of the deck rail vertical support at that point.

Cut a piece of PVC tube to match the length you measured. The tube should be slightly wider than the umbrella's center pole.

Insert your umbrella into the tube. You've got shade!

Tips & Warnings
Before beginning work, check the position of the sun during the day, so as to get the maximum amount of shade from the umbrella.
If the upper rail of your deck rail extends over the vertical supports, you may need to offset it out from the support by first installing a piece of board in that location.
